Downtown Brooklyn wrote a great review for the new Prose & Lore! Check it out:
”It is not uncommon for the media to skew the perspective of those who have worked in the sex industry, painting a picture of bad and dangerous people, with real life stories often going unheard. But since 2009, the Red Umbrella Project, a nonprofit group based in Downtown Brooklyn, has been providing a venue and an outlet for unheard voices of American sex workers.
Red Umbrella offers a wide array of workshops and classes, free of charge, for anyone who has worked in the sex industry, including, but not limited to, strippers, prostitutes, and dominatrices. The group offers two eight-week long intensive memoir writing workshops every year, one in the spring and one in the fall, as well as drop-in workshops in the summer and winter. The peer-facilitated workshops provide a safe platform for sex workers to share their stories.”
